WCSO Case #: 2005 -- 508491

Brandon Tomkins

WASHINGTON COUNTY - - This is a joint news release put out by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the King City Police Department.

On Friday afternoon, June 10, 2005, detectives with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested 29-year-old Brandon Tomkins on two counts of Sex Abuse in the second degree. Tomkins is a police officer with the King City Police Department. He has been with the department for six years.

King City Police Chief Charles Fessler has relieved Tomkins of duty and placed him on administrative suspension pending the outcome of the Sheriff’s Office investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office began conducting its investigation in mid April of 2005. The alleged victim is a young male, under the age of 18, whom Tomkins allegedly met on the internet.

The investigation is ongoing and will be forwarded to the Washington County District Attorneys Office upon completion. The King City Police Department will also conduct an internal investigation into the actions of Officer Tomkins.

At this point there is no reason to believe the alleged actions of Officer Tomkins had any impact on his duties as a police officer or that there are any other alleged victims.
