A 38-year-old Holloman airman was charged Friday with criminal sexual penetration and kidnapping of a 15-year-old Alamogordo girl.

According to Otero County Magistrate Court records, Staff Sgt. John D. Smith is charged with six counts of child solicitation by electronic communication device, one count sexual communication with a child, eight counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, four counts of kidnapping, three counts of sexual contact of a minor and six counts of criminal sexual penetration.

According to court records obtained by the Daily News, Smith is assigned to the 49th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Holloman. Smith is being held in the Otero County Detention Center on a $250,000 no 10 percent bail bond.

Smith is accused of communicating for several months with the girl through an Internet chat room beginning in October 2008 when the girl was 14 years old, then meeting the girl at a local baseball field.

Smith allegedly met the girl several times at a baseball field but changed meeting locations after a few weeks to a more secluded area.
